This homestead was built in 1842 and has been fully revived to serve as a historical resource and experience. Located on the banks of Lake Erie, The John R. Park Homestead is a fascinating trip back through time for visitors of any age. Open year-round, guests can check out 1800s cooking techniques on an open hearth, an 1800’s steam-powered sawmill, and a blacksmith’s shop with a coal-fired forge.
This is the perfect weekend destination for car buffs! The Canadian Transportation Museum is located on Arner Townline and has so many interesting exhibits. They showcase everything from horse-drawn wagons to antique emergency medical vehicles - you’ll leave with a new appreciation for Essex County’s automotive history. Their 1950s-themed diner will make sure you leave with a full belly too. Don’t skip their events page – they host unique events like murder mysteries, flea markets, and a Christmas market!
