Brews, Hikes, and Wildlife: How to make the most of Fall in Essex County

Posted Sep 13, 2023

Autumn is around the corner! This is one of the most beautiful times of year in Essex County. Take advantage of the season, get outside, and try out our top outdoor activities for fall.

Windsor Craft Beer Festival

If there’s something Windsor has no shortage of, it’s incredible craft breweries. The Windsor Craft Beer Festival, hosted by Windsor Eats, will be held in Willistead Park and features Essex County’s own local breweries, as well as popular ones from around Ontario. You’ll also find a wide variety of food options to pair with your beer. This local favourite is scheduled for Saturday, October 14th – make sure you save the date for this popular festival!

Take a Hike!

Throw on a sweater and head out to one of Windsor and Essex County’s many natural spaces. Soon to be Canada’s first urban national park, Ojibway Park is an awesome way to get exercise and spot some wildlife! The nature center is open from dawn to dusk and provides some great hands-on nature programs for little ones.

Take Another Hike!

For those in the southern part of the county, Kennedy Woods in Kingsville has trails that weave through old-growth trees. The trees are labeled by species, so you get a bite-sized science lesson too. You might come across a hawk or a deer! Just across the street is The Jack Minor Bird Sanctuary. Here you can visit peacocks, quail, and even feed geese right out of your hand!

We hope you enjoy the season and take time to appreciate this beautiful county! If you’re looking for a unique place to eat and drink, check out our blog about the best international cuisines in Windsor!
