Living in Wine Country - Introducing Kingsville, ON

Posted Jul 6, 2022

Kingsville, Ontario

It is the Southernmost point of Canada, a landmark for the country that is affectionately known as “Canada’s Paradise Garden.”
The town of Kingsville is expanding - it's one of the warmest destinations in the country and a place for families and new businesses to grow and experience the county, while still being close to the city.

Found along the shores of Lake Erie, Kingsville features many beaches for lounging and creating family moments, as well as ferries to carry you to Pelee Island. You can also rent a bike (at The Grove Bike Co.) to help get you from place to place to experience the best part of Kingsville in style.

Fresh Food Markets
For those who show an interest in supporting organic/mom-and-pop small grocers, you will find many home-grown opportunities where you can pick up produce, freshly baked goods, and locally owned and mixed spices for your kitchen.
Lee and Maria's is a 15-acre fruit and vegetable farm that grows everything from peaches to the well-known Leamington tomatoes. All fresh and affordable.
Willow Tree Market is well-known for its presentation of goods, and for creating a unique experience for shoppers. The produce is locally grown, and the staff are very personable.
You will find so many more pop-up food stands outside people's homes for everyone to enjoy.

Wine Country and Breweries
Being a part of wine country has its perks, creating a distinct experience at each establishment.
Pelee Island Winery grows grapes on their 550 acres of estate-owned vineyards in Canada’s warmest, oldest and most southerly grape growing region with a menu that features award-winning wines that will "transport you to the Island."
Black Bear Farms of Ontario Estate Winery is family owned and specializes in fruit wines made from farm-grown berries and grapes.
The Grove Brewing Company award-winning brewery and restaurant that creates premium brews and takes pride in sourcing ingredients both regionally and provincially.

Animals
Colasanti's Tropical Gardens is open year-round and has been family owned and operated since 1942. The 32-acre farm hosts animals from all around the world, a garden center, gaming facility, mini-golf and a restaurant. Families have a chance to learn about animals they may not have heard of before, handle creatures from other countries and meet with the famously nosey farm animals who live in the petting zoo.
Jack Miner Bird Sanctuary has been keeping wild birds safe since 1865. During migration months, the Sanctuary fills with birds passing through using the grounds as a safe resting place for food, water, and shelter. This destination was once rated the second greatest tourist attraction in Canada, with Niagara Falls being the first.

History/Museum
Kingsville is very rich in history as well, with monuments and museums to be explored and enjoyed.
Canadian Transportation Museum and Heritage Village is a non-profit organization that holds historic artifacts and aims to educate the greater Windsor-Essex area. The property also features the only EMS Museum in Ontario and a Harley Davidson Museum.
Kingsville Military Museum works to promote interest, education, and research in the Military and Civic History of the Kingsville-Essex County area, created by Veterans of Royal Canadian Branch 188.

Shopping
Cindy's Home Garden and Gifts carries beautiful clothing, garden accessories, artwork, and gifts for all seasons. In an additional, smaller building (Cindy's Too) found at the same location, you can also find an assortment of bottles of vinegar, oils, and some frosted treats to enjoy.
Anna's Garden, Home, and Wellness all your floral, seasonal, and household needs can be met at Anna's, where their friendly and knowledgeable staff can help you fulfill your next project and beautify areas in your home you once overlooked.
Paisley Dreamer is artist-owned and stacked ceiling to floor with one-of-a-kind, interesting and stylish art, clothing, and gifts. A local treasure that is well worth a little visit.

Eating
Dutch Boys Chocolate holds display cases full of chocolate creations that will awe and inspire. Owned by two friends with a common love for sweets, their knowledge and attention to detail will create an experience you will never forget.
Jacks Gastropub has been a part of the downtown Kingsville scene since 1989. It is known for its wrap-around porch, seasonal menus and features unique brews from Branded Goose Brewing Company that give an experience to its taster and "tell a story."
